Microsoft HealthVault is a web-based platform from Microsoft to store and maintain health and fitness information. This Personal health record system started in October 2007, the website addresses both individuals and healthcare professionals. In June 2010, Microsoft HealthVault expanded its services to include the United Kingdom
ComponentsA HealthVault record stores an individual's health information. Access to a record is through a HealthVault account, which may be authorized to access records for multiple individuals, so that a mother may manage records for each of her children or a son may have access to his father's record to help the father deal with medical issues. Authorization of the account can be through Windows Live ID, Facebook or a limited set of OpenID providers.
Authorization
An individual interacts with their HealthVault record through the HealthVault site, or, more typically, through an application that talks to the HealthVault platform. When an individual first uses a HealthVault application, they are asked to authorize the application to access a specific set of data types, and those data types are the only ones the application can use. An individual can also share a part (some data types) or the whole of their health record with another interested individual such as a doctor, a spouse, a parent, etc.
Devices
HealthVault Connection Center allows health and fitness data to be transferred from devices (such as heart rate watches, blood pressure monitors and the Withings wifi bodyscaleinto an individual's HealthVault record. It can also be used to find and download drivers for medical devices.
Medical Imaging
HealthVault supports storage of DICOM based medical imaging. Consumers can upload and download medical imaging DVD through HealthVault connection center. Third parties can also upload and download medical imaging to/from HealthVault, for example Candelis. In addition, there has been plethora of HealthVault medical imaging viewers released by the third party to connect to HealthVault even on mobile phones.
Interoperability
HealthVault supports a number of exchange formats including industry standards such as the Continuity of Care Document and the Continuity of Care Record. Support for industry standards makes it possible to integrate with many personal health record solutions.
Competitors
HealthVault's primary competitors are Dossia and World Medical Card. Google announced in June 2011 that Google Health would be discontinued as of January 1, 2012, and encouraged users to either download their data or to directly transfer it to Microsoft's HealthVault service before January 1, 2013.DW Sports Fitness is a British retailing and fitness business. Founded in March 2009 when Dave Whelan purchased the 50 JJB Sports Fitness Clubs and the attached retail stores for £83.4 million.At the time all the sites were shared between a fitness club and retail store, with most cases seeing the fitness club downstairs and the retail store upstairs. Since that time the group has grown to encompassmore than 60 sites, including stand-alone retail stores and stand-alone fitness clubs.

In April 2011, in an effort to boost the profile of their retail stores DW Sports joined the international buying group Intersport. As a result the Intersport logo was incorporated into the DW Sports Fitness fascias.Retail sitesIn late 2012 the first stand-alone DW Sports retail site opened at Wigan Grand Arcade in the old JJB unit located on the first floor next to TK Maxx.
Rumours following JJB demise
Rumours are rife in the wake of JJB Sports's demise. Mike Ashley's Sports Direct has purchased 60 JJB sites for a reported £30 million, but that leaves the other 120+ stores in the former JJB portfolio. Some reports say DW Sports is not interested in acquiring any further JJB units,[6] whilst others say that they are.
New locations
Since the 2009 acquisition and the renaming of JJB Fitness Clubs as DW Fitness Clubs several new gymnasium and leisure facilities have been opened in locations such as; Poole, Liverpool Hunts Cross, Sunderland, Ipswich, Blackpool, Aylesbury and Lincoln. A new gym only has recently opened in Huddersfield. It features all new state of the art equipment and a has a 20m pool.
