Muscle & Fitness has a more mainstream fitness & bodybuilding lifestyle focus than its companion publication, Flex, which mainly covers more specialised "hardcore" and professional bodybuilding topics. It offers many exercise and nutritional tips, while at the same time advertising a variety of nutritional supplements from companies such as BSN.
=Many professional bodybuilders are featured in each monthly issue of Muscle & Fitness, like Ronnie Coleman, Gustavo Badell, Darrem Charles, Sagi Kalev and Jay Cutler.
Muscle & Fitness has also featured actors, natural bodybuilders, athletes and sports personalities such as: Arnold Schwarzenegger, 50 Cent, Evander Holyfield, Joe Weider, Dwayne Johnson, Sebastian Siegel, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Emilien De Falco, Lawrence Leritz, Mike O'Hearn, and the March 2006 issue featured World Wrestling Entertainment chairman Vince McMahon and superstar Triple H. Triple H also featured in another issue at the end of 2009. It also features a number of figure competitors such as Davana Medina, Jenny Lynn, Monica Brant. And it featured on the cover of the February 2008 issue former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. Muscle and Fitness placed a lot of emphasis on Wrestlers and MMA fighters towards the end of 2009 and into 2010. Editions included WWE Superstar John Cena, former WWE Superstars "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and John Morrison, and UFC fighters Todd Duffee and Nate Marquardt.
Men's Fitness (UK) is a monthly men's magazine specialising in health and fitness and published by Dennis Publishing in the UK and Ireland.
The magazine's slogan is "Look Great, Feel Great", and it targets men of all ages, featuring the latest tips, advice and information on training, nutrition, muscle-building, fat loss, and sports performance, as well as sex tips, grooming advice, celebrity interviews, and in-depth features and analysis on the core and emerging health and fitness trends. As of the July 2013 issue, the magazine consists of seven distinct sections: Fit List (short, tip-based fitness articles), The Experts (columns by fitness professionals, sportsmen and other experts), RaceFit (cardio training), features, Out There (race reports and other first-person adventure stories), Eat/Fit (nutrition) and Trainer (weight training).
Its editors have included Pete Muir (currently editor of sister magazine Cyclist) and Jon Lipsey, now a brand consultant to the fitness industry. The current editor is Nick Hutchings, while erstwhile children's author and games journalist Joel Snape is associate editor and Donovan Walker is art director. A former deputy editor, Andy Dixon, is editor of Runner's World in the UK and another, Michael Donlevy, was editor of the UK edition of Maxim before its closure in 2009.
In 2009 Dennis Publishing acquired control of the complete publishing rights for Men’s Fitness in the UK and Ireland.[2] The magazine was previously published under licence from American Media, Inc. Dennis has also published a number of books under the Men's Fitness brand, known as MagBooks,[3] including the Amazon UK best-seller 12 Week Body Plan by its former deputy editor Joe Warner and personal trainer Nick Mitchell.[4] In 2013 the magazine launched an interactive edition
In October 2011, Men's Fitness gained negative publicity across the internet after publishing an article written by Jordan Burchette entitled "NY Comic Con: Flabby Versions of Your Favorite Superheroes!" In the article, candid and unflattering photos of costumed attendees at New York Comic Con were shown alongside seemingly mean-spirited captions. The jokes commented on the attendee's weight and physical stature.
Web sites frequented by comic book and cosplay enthusiasts, such as iFanboy.com posted their own thoughts on the situation. In his column for iFanboy, Josh Flanagan pointed out the poor techniques used in the reporting of Burchette's piece, and commented on the lackluster response of Men's Fitness as well as Burchette, citing them as defending the article as a work of comedy.[6] TheMarySue.Com also posted their thoughts in their article Men’s Fitness – The Jocks Of Convention High School.
